Sheet 03 — Case Study
Developer tool
LiveRepoStarter
Turns a project template into a ready GitHub project: labels, issues grouped by phase, and an optional GitHub Projects board, in a repository you choose.
Android app coming soon.
The problem
Setting up a GitHub project by hand means typing out the same labels, issues and board columns every time, and the planning a good project needs is easy to skip.
Who it is for: Developers and small teams starting a new project on GitHub.
What we built
- A gallery of 20 built-in templates, from a SaaS MVP to bug tracking, each with phases, labels and pre-written issues
- Board generation into a new or existing repository that skips issues already there and reports anything GitHub refused
- Custom templates built from scratch, edited from a built-in one, or imported from CSV or JSON
- Sign-in with Google, GitHub or LinkedIn, and a free plan alongside a paid plan through Stripe
- Installable on desktop and phone as a Progressive Web App
Engineering quality
- The GitHub access token stays in an encrypted, HttpOnly session cookie and never reaches browser code or the database
- Only an email address the sign-in provider has verified is accepted
- Every custom template is checked against a full schema on the server before anything is created
- Vercel BotID and rate limits on board generation, repository creation and sign-in
- Automated axe accessibility tests to WCAG 2.2 AA, with secret scanning and static analysis on every change
