MilSpouse Elevate

The problem

Military spouses move with every set of orders, so a career built in one place has to be rebuilt in the next. Job leads, mentors and training are scattered, and employers who want to hire spouses have no direct way to reach them.

Who it is for: Military spouses looking for portable careers, and the employers and mentors who want to hire and help them.

What we built

• +An opportunity board where spouses browse roles, remote ones included, and keep a profile
• +Employer accounts that post and manage listings, with an unlimited-posting plan billed through Stripe
• +A mentor directory with mentorship requests and scheduled video calls through Zoom
• +Resources and success stories, plus an admin area to curate opportunities and stories
• +Sign-in with email and password or with Google, GitHub and LinkedIn

Engineering quality

• +Accounts sign in only after confirming their email address, and new passwords need at least 15 characters
• +Sign-in, sign-up and confirmation are rate limited, and repeated wrong passwords lock an account for 15 minutes
• +Vercel BotID checks every sign-up, sign-in and member form on the server
• +Automated axe accessibility tests to WCAG 2.2 AA on every page, at desktop and phone sizes
• +Secret scanning and static analysis on every change, and security headers on every response
• +Analytics load only after a visitor agrees
